"Be Very Afraid"
Society Said..

Sounds that bridge insanity with the
World in denial, that spurns suffering
With a metallic high-heel shoe, some
Borax and a 1950's man with a plaster
Grin smoking a pipe of stagnation
In his lazy chair chuckling
Through the whole affair.

The people are kernels in
Microwave popcorn; they are the
Bits of sugar flaking off crystallized
Ginger; they are the streaks of paint in
An abstract museum; they are water in a dog's bowl.

You know the kind, that nod but don't agree,
That say but don't believe, that smile but
Do not see, that lust but do not love,
That hoard but but do not give,
That threaten knives but
Do not even own that
Gleaming shiv that
Maims, but stab
With disdain.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Demons that walk on two legs,
That propel themselves with
Grease and sideburns, that
Feed on the flesh of trees,
They munch wood pulp and
Turn it into tar and
Asphalt. Stay away
From those fellas;
They are everywhere;
So hide in your home,
Hoard up silver!
Hoard up gold!
Hoard up crypto!
Hoard up soul.
.
.
.
.
.
Be very afraid and
Spread the mechanism
To all connectors that
Modulate the roiling mass,
Humanity that burnt its finger,
Vehicles that vomit nicotine &
Move through all the clean
Spaces with the a filthy
Brush that kisses you
With uranium and
Cyanide.
