Leaves fell
Inside my heart;
A vortex of decay loomed
And the onlookers sighed sitting
On beach towels observing the river
Swallowing red-orange brittle-fine tears
Branches shivered their feeble strength
In the face of a gentle gust which caressed
Their hurtless wounds with calm assurance.
Roots rejoiced in their happy packet, that
Earth eternal singing mineral bliss
Below, where sweet darkness
Held tight her progeny
The clinging love
Which stings.
