I'm dancing at the edge of the fire
But hoping not to get burned
All it would take is a shove
Or even a misplaced foot
But yet I continue to dance.
I'm atop a cliff
Standing close to the edge
Looking down at the valley
The view from here is amazing
But it'll only take a gust of wind
And I'll fall to my doom.
I'm at the bank of the sea
Admiring the raging waves
I'm lost in the beauty of the blue
Forgetting I can't swim
And all it'll take is a rogue wave
And I'll sink to the bottom of the sea.
I'm in a cave
Exploring this dark place
Not knowing what I'll find
But I continue searching
All it'll take is a cave in
And I'd be lost forever.
I'm on a plane
Soaring like a bird in the sky
Thirty thousand feet up in the air
I can hear the storm outside
I know that just one wrong lightening bolt
And I'll come crashing down.
I'm driving down the highway
Going on a steady ninety
I love the thrill
The adrenaline rush is amazing
A wrong turn on a bend
And I'll be crushed.
If I knew that either one
of these scenarios would be my end
Would I still take that path
Would I enjoy the journey
Till I can't anymore
Or would I choose another.
Life is unpredictable
The future is unforseen
Whatever happens happens
If I had a chance to see it
Would I be tempted to.
Would I really want to know
To know an end that I cannot change
What if I don't like what I see
Wouldn't that just make me miserable
And I'll end up not enjoying my journey.
That will just be a total disaster
I'm ready for what is coming
I'll keep dancing by the fire
And if I get burned
Then so be it.
