A TASTE OF DARKNESS
With each pedal of darkness
that falls
is attached
a dream
of what could be
Why we are tempted
by darkness
and hearts of coal
We must taste them
to distinguish reality
from nightmares
Ever so often to
taste life
rather than
to
watch it
from afar
