We Took the Time
Within a year we took all the time,
All the possible things to do in a lifetime.
Biking, road tripping, and mountain climbing,
What a year! That was purely full of fun!
It was a memorable and ecstatic year,
Running along the summer breeze,
After planting and climbing fruit bearing trees,
The sound of nature is like music to our ears.
Early morning we usually walk the dogs,
Played fetching, running and pulling,
Torn garments, a lot of scratches,
Oh dear, had a wonderful time reminiscing.
You used to say we should go to the beach,
Have a swim, go diving or a little bit of fishing.
Brought some food, enough that we could share.
Took all the time that we could spare.
On a rocky and muddy path we did dirt biking,
Drop over here, a little hump over there,
The laughter we made, the bruises we gained,
Stitches on wounds, and scars remained.
You are an excellent cook that’s what I can say,
Anniversaries, birthdays, and even ordinary days,
A lot of food on the table was prepared,
We took the time cooking in the kitchen we shared.
Singing old songs, blues, and lullabies,
Bread and Beegees, Toto, and Air supply,
If, Diary, Rosanna, and To love somebody,
That was your favorite jam, all the time.
One lazy afternoon, the year took a fall,
It was painful, dreary, and totally unacceptable.
You were waiting for me to come home the night before,
Never got the chance to say thank you once and for all.
When God took you back I should not fret,
Should not even allow an ounce of regret.
Within this world you’re the best paradigm,
Cause within the year, we took all the time.
