Every day provides us an opportunity to celebrate. Today is National Mad Hatter Day, a day to celebrate silliness. Mad Hatter was a character in Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Today’s poem is inspired by my memory of the book. I wish everybody a happy and silly day.

ALICE'S ADVENTURE
There was a man with a hat.
He was asked about his past.
What was your crime?
He replied I murdered time.
Let’s have tea and chat.
There was a girl who sat for tea.
She said please talk to me.
The Mad Hatter sighed and replied,
yes Alice, but please be advised
The Cheshire cat is fatter than me.
There was a cat with a grin,
purple and pink skin.
He was kind of weird,
but Alice he endeared.
Much to the Queen chagrin.
There was a queen that said,
off with that cat’s head!
The cat’s body mysteriously disappeared,
causing the executioner great despair.
Thankfully the Cheshire cat’s life was spared.
I am a poet who forgot,
the rest of the plot.
Grab the book off the shelf,
and read it for yourself,
please help me out of this awkward spot.
