Every day provides us an opportunity to celebrate. Today on National Inner Beauty Day, let your inner beauty shine! Don’t buy into the media’s portrayal of beauty and the perfect life. The images they use are only meant to get us to buy their products. They are not concerned about helping individual’s gain self-esteem, they are focused on their business’s bottom line. My beliefs about how society and big business define beauty were the inspiration for today’s poem.
but, we need to rethink beauty.
has caused us to define
to which society nods in inherence.
just so their products will sell.
it’s just mind pollution.
of this definition that binds.
focus on what’s within
with no outer disguise.
inner beauty flourishes.
ending unnecessary pain.
dousing the burning flames
while breaking out of our shell.
and make inner beauty the norm.
