A poem about the real world.
Black cat. Don't look back.
Sun's gone down. Look around.
Intimidating. Careful what you say.
Do your work, or no one else gets paid.
Stay in your line, do what they say.
Bow your head, don’t look that way.
Tracks in the mud.
Hot burning sun.
Aching feet.
No break to eat.
No hopes, no dreams.
None of the extreme.
Work all day,
to get what you need.
Then work all night
if you want any more
than the bear essentials
that come to your door.
You're lucky to be here.
Luckier than most.
Don’t be ungrateful.
Don’t lie and don't boast.
You have food on your plate,
no blood on your hands
so don't complain
with your entitled demands.
Don’t expect any more
than what you are given.
You get what you get
and will not be forgiven.
I hope you like it
