It’s a still and quiet morning,
Through my window, I can see the colours of daylight breaking
And somehow it reminds me of you.
I know that you are often sad,
And that the light of your eyes have dimmed to a dull gaze,
That everyday it gets harder to tug on that effortless smile,
That your voice breaks when you speak of her and you can barely croak a word,
And that the mirror only reflects a person you vaguely recognise,
A person that is not you but it is you.
But let me tell you
That I will catch every drop that falls off your porcelain cheek,
And I will hold them in the palm of my hands
And teach you to swim in your glassy pool.
Or when you want to take a shower
For the water to cascade and mask those tears that you’ve so patiently crafted
And for the rush to drown the silence of your fallen battles
As you weep,
As you weep,
I will listen to every sob you sob and every breath you breathe,
And I will turn it into a song,
And not a song of being strong,
But a tune of peace,
A rhythm of love,
And a melody of hope
And it will be a beautiful song
My darling,
I will remember your smiles for the days you forget to
And I will remember every note of your laugh
And I will look into your dark brown eyes
And help you
Help you to see dusk break
And see sunset colours of orange and red
And I will help you to see
The universe at night
That hold the brightest of stars that burn
And the dimmest of stars that still shine.
