Rain is persistent,
Insistent
It smokes
In chimneys
And darkens the bricks
Shines on slate roofs
And beads
The leaded glass.
It pervades everything
with mystery
and gloom
Draws me to the window
In a darkened room,
Searching for you
But where?
In the past
Or present
Or the swirling haze
Of mist
And drizzly days?
Now without boundaries
Or any clear lines
to separate your dreams from mine
We could even meet
In another time,
Indifferent
To days and seasons...
With only a downpour
To provide a reason.
