The passage of time sings of change
Like an ever-evolving lyre
Ethereal and strange
With many an infinite string
What of Autumn
What of Spring
When seasons come and go
Tides ebb and flow
What of Fortuna’s wheel?
When you sell your soul
To strike a deal
Or beg and bargain
To place upon a table
A new meal
What of wounded heart and fractured beat
When you dance upon shattered dreams
With bare feet
What of that betraying kiss on the cheek
And stabs in the back by an old friend
That leave you defeated and weak
What of a warm tender touch?
Of using past pain as a crutch
Of hitting and missing
And fighting and kissing
When time stands still for a moment
Just a fleeting, wordless moment
What of adrenaline pumping through veins
And worlds of losses and gains
Feeble gambling with Fate
Of heartache, heartbreak and heart attack
And peering within the surface of perfection
A single, maddening crack
What of it all
What of everything
When time withers and creeps
Spills and seeps
Catches up with you
And all you did do
Be like like wind my friend
Change with the breeze
Evolve like time
Right until the end
Twist and curve
Straighen and swirve
