Dear Zainab, I remember you today
So intelligent and smart among friends
Who could be stronger than you?
Despite life throwing lemons at you
You made lemonades right out of them
And proved to be bigger than your fears.
You stood by the shaky bridge that evening
Ready to plunge into the deep river
My heart shook for a minute as you looked back
What if we didn't get there on time
You would have lost your life to the struggles
And give in to your scared heart.
You told us how you were blamed for all
The death of your mother whilst she had you
Which resulted to more pain for your father
An outcast living amidst her own blood
Cry to bed as she clinch to the sheet
Yet nobody cares how she truly feels.
So much pain in growing up
Darkness spreads all over her heart
Even when we discuss and she says lot
She skips the part about her that matters
Till the fear turns to depression
That leads to suicidal thoughts.
Let us learn to speak up
Despite the pains inside of us
If Zainab had taken her life that day
She wouldn't have lived to see another day
Now she is a banker in a top bank
Living life to the fullest as she could.
I am writing this to warn others
What doesn't truly kills you
Have to make you stronger if you believe
Just hold on to the belief that it will be better
Raise your head higher and be like Zainab
Kill that suicide thoughts and never give up.
