Steemit buds,
I am a traveler who just completed a 2 month journey across the U.S. and Thailand. Along the way I was finally able to truly find a vision for a poetry collection I began 2 very long years ago. I would like to hear any feedback, thoughts, and comments on my work. I will be posting a poems regularly throughout the next few month under the title A POEM A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY. Follow my page to see more original daily poetry features.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my usually contradictory, tangential collection of thoughts on society.
Sweet Ire
by Kaitlyn Carlson
You look around at the world,
and all of it, all of these thickly
painted illusions,
they aren’t real.
Is anything real?
All of this has been constructed.
the smiles, the bodies,
the consumption, the consumerism-
the monopolization of minds via marketing.
These flashing campaigns,
subversive and exploitative.
You look inside.
And all of it,
every minute molecule
of thought,
every accelerating atom
of an idea…
is genuine.
The chaos of emotion;
the rawness in the intensity of consciousness;
simultaneous tickles of sun drenched vivacity
followed by tidal waves of dark moon tumbles;
the sweet ire of what it is to be and to see, i.
so here is to disillusionment,
with the hope that this,
this convulsion of man’s
pursuits might never dull
the electric sparks running
through the minds of men.
