Since fall is upon us I thought I would share a poem that I wrote back in 1997.
Along with a couple of fall pics .!

A Thankful Heart
When I behold the beauty of a sunset or sunrise,
Or see the wonder in a small child’s eyes,
And hear the sound of a newborn’s first cries,
Then I rejoice with a Thankful Heart.
From season to season there is a miracle in them all.
Whether a tiny bud or a dying leaf on a tree so tall,
A fragrant garden flower or a snowflake so small,
I experience each one with a Thankful Heart.
Whether I climb a mountain or leave a footprint in the sand,
I am proud of this country bought by my fellow man.
From sea to sea united and free we can all stand,
And I pledge my allegiance with a Thankful Heart.
It is with my eyes filled with tears I survey the Cross
Where His Blood was shed in spite of the cost,
He brought life to a world that was hopeless and lost,
And to me He gave a Thankful Heart.
To have compassion for people and His race I run”,
Is what I can give in return for the gift of God’s Son.
Each moment is given that I might treasure,
The fact that God’s Heart of Love is without measure.
