My Entry Into: Writers' Block Poetry Contest Celebrating YouAreHope
The deeper I get into this Steemit platform, I am confounded and amazed at the real humanity that lives here. Just looking at the mission statement, I see hope!
I have written this poem, in the form of a rap song...kindof...
I saw your post , and this just came out of me.
Perhaps you'll like it.
Anywhere, Earth…You Are Hope!
By: Rickie O. Pauley (a.k.a @Lymmerik)
In the desolate streets, we’re all ravaged and plundered!
My god we’re outnumbered.
“You are hope,” just sounds like thunder.
With no place for cover,
It’s all torment and hunger.
Please know we’re all brothers,
We won’t be done under.
We’ll never surrender!
So always remember…
If you are hope, we’ll grow up,
They’ve taken it all,
But it’s not enough,
How much longer ‘til we fall?
Was “You are hope!” just a bluff?
They’ve taken our home, so we’re forced to leave!
We have children to feed,
But nothing to eat.
No bread with no wheat,
No water to drink.
Forced out on the street,
We fall dead from the heat.
It’s sad when they see,
But don’t care what we need.
If you are hope, we’ll grow up,
They’ve taken it all,
But it’s not enough,
How much longer ‘til we fall?
Was “You are hope!” just a bluff?
We stood up to fight, we're just trying to cope!
We Walk a tightrope,
With this heavy load.
But the butt of their joke,
It got stuck in their throat.
And we rowed, and we rowed,
When they set us afloat.
Anywhere, Earth, You reap what you sew,
So now can you see, We are your hope.
You are hope, and we’ll grow up,
You’ve given us all,
Now we have enough,
Not much longer ‘til we’d fall?
“You are hope!” was not a bluff!
The greedy are few, but you are most kind!
My god we have tried,
To stand as one tribe,
And live our own lives.
But you heard our cry,
And spared us supplies,
And they fall from the skies,
So we can get by,
With a smile in our eyes.
You are hope, and we’ll grow up,
You’ve given us all,
Now we have enough,
Not much longer ‘til we’d fall?
“You are hope!” was not a bluff!
ThankYou!
