Remember to Win
By: Rickie O. Pauley (a.k.a. @Lymmerik)
He took a long journey to follow his heart,
His time to begin, began at the start.
He marveled the hills, the sea, and the stars,
And circled the globe with bars on his heart.
He never knew love, or, nor did he court,
A life of romance, in that he fell short.
Secluded he’d live, in deluded rapport,
For surrounding his heart, he’d built a tall fort.
For seventy years; and nary a friend,
T’was time, so he thought, for his end to begin.
But did it begin for him at the end?
Or was it that day he began to transcend?
On to his next life, through tunnel of light,
This time he would surely find him a wife.
In life after life, it cuts like a knife,
He’d never find love, with strife in his life.
Time after time, he began to begin,
Not where he’d been going, but where he had been.
For much to his now embarrassed chagrin,
He’d never forget; he’d remember to win.
