☠Night's Dread☠

The full moon is eerie with stars burning white
I peer to the heavens on a clear summer's night
A warm breeze is blowing, yet it chills my skin
A calm quite unsettling, stirs deep from within

Darkness surrounds me with sounds of the night
Disturbing the stillness on an endless plight
The owl's cry blends with the coyote's howl
As creatures nocturnal now move on the prowl

The wind lightly shuffles the leaves on the ground
Night time uncanny, my heart starts to pound
Sounds left unseen, arcane and obscure
Abyss of the blackness, an unearthly lure

Panic and fear step forth boasting pride
As midnight comes creeping through stillness outside
Lost in the darkness, no reference to turn
This beast that consumes me, such evil I spurn

My feet want to move yet frozen they stand
I tremble and shudder from loss of command
Night still goes crawling, no mercy is found
Screaming lies dormant, I can't make a sound

Blessed be the the angels, it's dawning I see
Relief times one thousand consumes all of me
This dire and dread has gone with the night
Evil's demise found thru the morn's light
