Hi Evan, it's nice to see someone write a poem in verse. I roll my eyes in derision when I hear verse referred to as "New Formalism." New ... perhaps they ought inquire of the ghosts of Chaucer or Shakespeare about its novelty. I've been on Steemit for about 5 hours so I'm looking for kindred spirits. My Intro Post contains two poems in verse if you're interested (with many more coming in the days ahead). Respecting, "Howl" ... it's the whole 'innocence lost' thing, isn't it? And as with children, it is poignant ... both a loss and a gain. After all, the whole point of childhood is to learn to become an adult. And, the whole point of parenthood, is to ensure that they survive long enough to make the transition to being able to fend for themselves. That is, metaphorically, to be able to kill for themselves.
