Smart phone zombies crave
click bait released Dopamine;
replacement for brains.
This picture inspired me to write a Haiku about how addicted many people (including myself) are to their phones. I guess that it's inevitable when you replace real social interaction with a virtual alternative, that some people were going to end up taking it to excess. I honestly think that I'm at the edge of the danger zone.
There is a whole bunch of research about how social media triggers Dopamine response, and I think that social media is the main culprit for smart phone addiction. Perhaps we on steem are testing the new depths of this dopamine response! When you consider that both 'perceived approval' and monetary reward are in the equation, is steem kinda like the 'crack' of the social media world? With Twitter and Facebook as the good old fashioned regular cocaine 😂 I know I check Partiko multiple times a day to both read other authors and see how my post is being received. What are your thoughts on this issue? Are you a Fbook, Twitter and steem addict? Do you check your phone a million times a day? I'd be interested to hear peoples thoughts in the comments.
This is day twenty eight of my month long challenge - from the 06th of August until the 06th of September - to post a daily Haiku on steem. Each week will have a different theme based on picture prompts from either Pixabay.com or Unsplash.com. This week's broad theme is technology.
I have created a new tag #monthofhaiku. If anyone wants to replicate the challenge please feel free, I will check the tag occasionally and try to curate the better Haiku. However, this is not meant to be a challenge to the writers' community. I am away in Yorkshire at the moment with no access to a computer and limited internet. Please, forgive me if I'm slow to respond to comments, as I will only be checking my phone (and partiko) occasionally while away. This weeks Haiku are being published via using their fantastic scheduling feature.
