My husband and I were recently inspired to write a poem about each of our five children. It has become a dual project, and I'd like to share each one with you as they are created! Here is the first one about our only son. https://steemit.com/poetry/@snowpea/my-marvel-my-son-original-verses
So far my husband writes the rough draft, then it is edited and posted by me.
This one is for our eldest daughter. Enjoy!! :)
Hummingbird so free
Naomi, sunshine girl,
Lover of life, truly a pearl
Spunky, witty and smart,
A student of life
From the start
Gathering from each experience
That comes near her path
A deep thinker,
Not great at math
Marvels at existence
Innocent, energetic, and sweet
She's such a delight
And likes everyone she meets
My daughter she is,
This can't be denied
Someday she may give us
a few sleepless nights
An independent spirit
Creative with glee
I love that girl,
An extension of me
When I first knew
She was a hummingbird so free,
This was at the tender age of three
She was in a parking lot
With her mother and I
She saw a shiny yellow moped
She wanted to fly!
Her eyes fell upon it,
she thought it was hers
She wanted to be as free as a bird
A downright fit that little one had
But we thought it was funny
She wasn't being bad
A favorite memory
of her adventurous nature
Well this happened
a couple years later
She drove a go cart so fast,
and beat everyone there
Laughing out loud,
The wind in her hair
Naomi, my child
You're growing up so fast
Look at how much time has passed
And even though now you're only eight
I don't want the years to fly,
I want to wait
My delightful girl
My hummingbird so free
You really must know
What you mean to me
You are so beautiful
Both inside and out
This I know
Without a doubt
Thanks for reading!
Love, snowpea ❤
