Dragon's Head
Hunting on plains and along forest trail
Looking for the marks of claw and tail
Imaginary beast will eventually stray
Heart deep upon lance it will impale
**
Look to the breeze for beat of wing
Eye the horizon of shadow to bring
Hair on neck stands but steady of arm
Ready to face the inevitable sting
**
Scales aplenty and steel armour cold
Flames in the belly as tale foretold
Eyes of glass but shatter they not
To look within is for only the bold
**
Over land, cliff and across sea the rage
The ode to it all will never grace page
A battle felt but will never to be seen
To capture the creature in sturdy cage
**
Slaying the monster and leaving for dead
Waiting for what will arrive in its stead
The idea of hero falls by the wayside
As the dragon chose to take its own head
