So, before you read this next one…I just thought I would share that I will be writing a poem for each of the 80s sitcoms that I mentioned in my Stay Tuned post, but I may spread them out a little. If you want to read the next ones, just STAY TUNED!!
Whatchu talkin’ ‘bout Willis?
The catch phrase to which it had fame.
A sitcom that seemed to be cursed
And Diff’rent Strokes was the name.
The show was about two young boys
Whose mother had passed away.
Her employer then takes them in,
They were different in every way.
Little Arnold was funny
He captivated all with his charm.
Willis, the smooth older brother
Kept his little brother from harm.
Kimberly was the daughter
Phillip Drummond was Dad.
They worked through life’s many hardships
Together, took the good with the bad.
We watched as the family grew
And developed a special bond
The kind that most families share,
A love that goes well beyond.
Beyond their vast differences
And the fact that they weren’t blood.
Love works that way sometimes
It overflows like a flood.
Though the show itself thrived,
The actors soon fell apart.
The stardom and success disappeared
And took with it, their heart.
But we will remember the laughter,
Not the tragedies over the years.
For every smile that they gave us
Is worth far more than all of the tears.
