Hi there. Here is another Pokemon TCG post cover the upcoming Night Wanderer Pokemon cards in Japan. These are Cresselia, Yveltal, Zorua and Zoroark.
News source from Pokebeach.com and from Pokebeach.com website
The English release of these cards are in Shrouded Fable to be released in August 2024.
Cresselia Card
This single prize Psychic basic Cresselia card has 120 HP with all Psychic attacks and one retreat cost. The first attack of Healing Pirouette heals 20 damage from each of your Pokemon. Its second attack of Crescent Purge is interesting. For an attack cost of three Psychic energy you can do a base damage of 80 with an option of turning one Prize card that is face down to face up. If you do this then the attack does another 80 damage which goes to 160 damage. The prize card that is face up is public knowledge as it stays face up for the rest of the game. Even though you gain prize card information if you choose to the opponent gains information as well.
Pros
- Big Basic HP of 120 HP for single prize
- One retreat cost
- Compatibility with Gardevoir ex's Psychic Embrace ability to easily get 3 Psychic energy for Crescent Purge attack.
Cons
- Darkness weakness.
- Attack damage of 80 or 160 may not be enough for knockout. Better Psychic attackers with Gardevoir ex in the form of Drifloon and Scream Tail.
- Giving opponent information about prize card.
Yveltal
Yveltal is a Dark Basic Pokemon with 120 HP and one retreat cost as well. Most Dark Pokemon have a Fighting weakness or Grass weakness but this one has a lightning weakness as they classify this as a bird.
The first attack of Gnawing Wings requires one dark energy in order to place two damage counters on each of the opponent's Pokemon that have any damage counters on it. From the top of my head I am not sure of devastating combos when it comes to damage spread decks. There is Froslass from Twilight Masquerade that places 1 damage counter to all Pokemon with an ability between turns but that is all I know.
The second attack of Destructive Beam requires two Dark energies and one colourless energy for 100 damage. You also flip a coin. If heads, discard an Energy from the opponent's Active Pokemon. If you get lucky this attack is not too bad but the cost is high.
Pros
- Big Basic Pokemon with 120 HP and low retreat cost of one.
- Compatible with Dark Patch item card for Dark Energy acceleration to Benched Pokemon.
- Damage spread attack can allow potential of multiple knockouts
Cons
- Lightning weakness
- Three energy cost attack is quite a bit for 100 damage.
- Need damage counters on opponent's Pokemon already for first attack.
Zorua
Zorua is a basic 70HP Dark Pokemon with one retreat cost and grass weakness. The attacks of nothing too crazy. You need Zorua as a start to evolve to Zoroark.
Special illustration art version of Zorua is nice. See below.
Zoroark
Zoroark is a 120 HP Stage 1 Pokemon that evolves from Zorua. This also has one retreat cost and a Grass weakness. Its second attack of Claw Slash requires one Dark Energy and two colourless energy for 110 damage. I don't think this Claw Slash attack is good.
The first attack of Phantom Jack is something worth considering in certain decks. For two colourless Energy the attack does 60 damage for each of your opponent's Pokemon ex and Pokemon V in play. The worst this attack does is zero and the highest this attack can do is 360 damage if the opponent has all six of his/her Pokemon as Vs and/or Pokemon ex.
Pros
- Maximum damage of 360 which one hits pretty much anything without any tools.
- Compatible with Dark Patch and Double Turbo Energy.
- Phantom Jack attack requires colourless energy.
Cons
- Requires deck space to fit Zorua and Zoroark, may not be for any deck.
- Grass weakness
- Costly second attack energy requirement.
Thank you for reading.
