Hi there. In this Pokemon TCG news I talk about this Houndstone ex Box to be released in October 2024 and this Charizard ex Super Premium Collection product.
Houndstone ex Box
This Houndstone ex Sealed Product is to be released on October 4, 2024. The timing of this is before Halloween. The retail price is $21.99 USD. In this product you have a Houndstone ex promo card, a jumbo version of Houndstone ex, a holographic version of Greavard from Obsidian Flames, 4 booster packs and one code card for Pokemon TCG Live.
This Houndstone ex is from the Pokemon Card Game Battle Academy product. Here is a screenshot of it with the card text.
From a gameplay and competitive standpoint, this Houndstone ex is not very good. A base damage of 100 for a Stage 1 Pokemon ex attacker is not very high. The coin flip effect is weak as you only get +20 damage for each heads until a tails is flipped. Also the energy cost on the attack is kind of high at one Psychic and two colourless energy.
This Houndstone ex Box is more for collectors and not for players.
Charizard ex Super Premium Collection Box
I am not the only one who thinks that the Pokemon Company International really loves selling Charizard products. This may be the four Charizard themed sealed product in the last 12 months. It is the Charizard ex Super Premium Collection to be released in October 2024. The retail price is $79.99 USD.
The Charizard ex promo you get here is the one from Pokemon 151.
Say each pack is around 5USD each. The ten packs is 50USD, the Charizard ex Promo is around 5 to 7 USD estimated value, the Charmander and Charmeleon promo cards are 2 USD together. The Charizard display figure could be 10 USD or something. That comes to 67 USD to 69 USD estimated value. This estimate value is under the retail price of 79.99 USD.
For collection purposes this product is okay I guess. This product is definitely not for playes. For 80 USD you can definitely buy individual cards to make your own competitive deck.
