Hello. In this Pokemon TCG post I cover the cards Zamazenta and the Blaziken evolution line from the The Glory of Team Rocket Japan set.
Zamazenta
Zamazenta is a 130 HP Basic Metal Pokemon with 2 retreat cost, Grass resistance and Fire weakness. It has only one attack. This attack costs two Metal Energy and 1 Colourless Energy. It does 70 damage with the added effect of reflecting damage taken from an opponent's attack. Put damage counters on the attacking Pokemon equal to damage done to this Pokemon. This reflect damage effect sounds nice in theory but I don't think this is great in practice. There is a Mewtwo from Pokemon 151 set that has a similar effect and that card is not used at all in the competitive metagame.
This Zamazenta has an illustration rare version. This one looks really good. Easily 20 CAD at least for the English physical copy.
Blaziken Evolution Line
Torchic
We just got a Blaziken evolution line from Journey Together (or Japan's Battle Partners). I am not sure why there is another one so soon.
Torchic is a 70 HP Basic fire Pokemon with one retreat cost and Water weakness. The Combusion attack is not great but the Collect move for drawing 1 card is okay in the early game.
Combusken
Combusken is the Stage 1 evolution of Torchic. Nothing really crazy from Combusken as it has zero abilities and two generic average attacks.
Blaziken
Blaziken is the Stage 2 final evolution of Torchic. This has 170 HP, two retreat cost and Water weakness. Heat Blast requires 2 Colourless Energy to do 70 damage which is not great.
The Inferno Legs attack needs 2 Fire Energy and one Colourless energy for the attack cost. You discard 2 Energy from this Pokemon to deal 120 damage to 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokemon. My problem with this Blaziken and this attack is that it is not easy to get a Stage 2 Pokemon out and the energy requirements are high just to do 120 damage even with a Bench hitting option.
Maybe you can use 1 copy of this Blaziken in a Blaziken deck. I would recommend Blaziken ex instead.
