I asked our SPL community for some inspiration for my next blog post.
offered up Pineapple and I just couldn't resist!
What Is Pineapple?
Pineapple is a poker game that follows the rules of Texas Hold'em except that instead of each player receiving two hole cards, you get three. After you are dealt your three, you muck one prior to the first betting round. Seems simple, right? It is, however there are many variants of the Game of Pineapple!
Crazy Pineapple
Crazy Pineapple isn't much different than regular Pineapple. Each player is still dealt three cards, however - and here comes the crazy part! - you can keep your third card until just before the turn is dealt! weee!
Lazy Pineapple
Lazy Pineapple is for the lazy people in your poker group. Who wants to throw something away when you can just ... hold onto it ... for a little while? That's right, in this version of Pineapple, you can keep your third card until the final round of betting on the river is over. Then you have to muck it.
History
Loving history as you know I do, I couldn't resist looking up where the great game of Pineapple hails from. According to this article, Pineapple originated in a poker room in Medellin, Colombia, 2010.
Having recently finished watching Narcos, season 1 I am intrigued by Medellin. Medellin is the second largest city in Colombia and located in the Aburra Valley. It was conquered by the Spanish in 1541.
Thanks for checking out todays lesson! Hope to see you on the tables soon!!
