What acceptable rationale gives any police officer the ability to shoot a young black citizen of the US for possibly stealing stereos? Think about that: Armed robbery might be a reason, armed anything, but a person stealing stereos isn't expected to be armed. Armed suggests a crime where the person intimidates a person into compliance with the threat of death, a stereo doesn't need to be threatened. A stereo thief isn't relying on intimidation, so him having a weapon wouldn't make sense, nor be probable! in fact, a smart thief would ditch their weapon if doing a crime where itwasn'tt necessary to take out the additional time having the weapon would incur.
So how does anyone buy this excuse that the police officers in this matter had a reasonable fear for their lives and that justifies shooting a young black man 20 times, cuffing him, doing a tactical reload and holding up any medical assistance to possibly save his life?
The bottom line is there is no justification, from any reasonable perspective, on this matter and that these two police officers should be in jail facing murder charges on this matter. The fact they are not is the proof that the dividee on racism in this country hasn't made one step forward in the decades since civil rights made its appearance in the sixties.
I am ashamed to admit that this is my America. this is the reason for some of us we take the position of; not enough of these police officers can be killed, not enough harm and hurt can come to their families, not enough violence and shame on their profession, to make this right. Its a sad point of view because in the end they and their families are just as important as any other, but for now any story of their being the victim of violence simply makes me feel as though they deserve it and more!
For that sentiment, i apologize, but this is just an insane situation of social injusticee that needs to happen for this to be made right.
If they are going to live by the phrase "its better to be judged by 12 than carried out by six" I say "if your black and you shoot a cop, if im on the twelve you will walkl"! I don't care what evidence is provided, every black person has a reasonable fear of being shot by a police officer therefor every black person should be permitted to protect themselves from that threat! So if you find yourself on jury duty in one of these situations let your conscience be your guide, the conditions of the crime in question don't summarize the overall conditions of the situation if you're a black person in America today!
