I don't know why on earth people who claim to love police officers, have them as friends and family members, and so on, would ever support sending those officers to break into someone's house in the middle of the night for anything other than stopping an act of ongoing or imminent violence.
After all, many of those are the same people who firmly believe in the Castle Doctrine and would themselves be jumping out of bed holding a gun to face someone who is barging through their door yelling incoherently, looking for all the world like a tremendous threat to self and household. Which, honestly, police pursuing a warrant under such circumstances often are.
Even if you think that such a reaction is always and everywhere wrong when the people who are barging through the door happen to be police officers, it's still an utterly predictable reaction, and if it's predictable that there's a decent chance of you getting shot by someone (or of shooting someone) while doing something, it's definitely worth evaluating whether it's absolutely necessary for you to do that thing.
Or...so you'd think?
