"Lichwiarz" to nie jest zwyczajny thriller. Nie bez powodu też, na okładce widnieje napis "...wciągnie czytelnika w otchłań pierwotnego szaleństwa". W przypadku tej książki dostałam to czego oczekiwałam po okładce, jak i po opisie.
Z góry uprzedzam, że sięgając po powieść Pana Tomasza musicie uzbroić się w cierpliwość. Akcja rozwija się tu powoli, pierwsza połowa książki właściwie nie wyróżnia się niczym szczególnym. Biała, główna bohaterka, po stracie męża i ciężkim okresie powrotu do sprawności po wypadku postanawia wrócić na służbę, by uwolnić się od nawracających wspomnień. Nie widzi innego sposobu by zapomnieć o cierpieniu, tęsknocie czy bólu. Problem w tym, że sprawa do której została przydzielona nie jest zwyczajna. Śmierć młodej dziewczyny wydaje się być nieszczęśliwym wypadkiem, ale z czasem kolejnych zgonów zaczyna przybywać, a Biała czuje się coraz gorzej. Bywają momenty, gdzie nie wie czy to co się w około niej dzieje to prawda, czy kolejny koszmar. Zaczyna widzieć, czuć i słyszeć coś co nie ma prawa istnieć. Jej stan po terapiach pogarsza się zamiast przynosić spokój. I teraz zaczyna się coś dziać. Książka nabiera rozpędu, wydarzenia stają się coraz bardziej nieprawdopodobne.
Wkrótce na drodze policjantki staną osoby które naprowadzą ją na ślad Lichwiarza. Kim jest, czego chce i jak go zniszczyć? To będzie trudne biorąc pod uwagę, że Biała nie chce uwierzyć w to co widzi. Pytanie, czy słusznie. Prawdziwe zło wychodzi na ulice, czy to ona popada w obłęd?
Opętanie, zjawy, święta inkwizycja, egzorcyzmy. To właśnie czeka Was w powieści Bartosiewicza i według mnie, książka zasługuje na uwagę. Ja, pomimo ciężkich początków dałam się porwać i nie żałuję ani chwili.

"Lichwiarz" is not an ordinary thriller. It is not without reason that the cover reads "... will draw the reader into the abyss of primal madness". With this book, I got what I expected from the cover and description.
I warn you in advance that when reaching for a novel by Mr. Tomasz, you have to be patient. The action unfolds slowly here, the first half of the book does not have much thrill to it. Biała, main character, after losing her husband and having a hard time returning to fitness after an accident, decides to return to the police service to free herself from recurring memories. She sees that as the only option that will help her cope with the loss. The problem is that the case to which she was assigned is not ordinary. The death of a young girl seems to be an unfortunate accident, but with time more deaths start to happen and Biała feels worse and worse. There are times when she does not know if what is happening around her is true or just a nightmare. Begins to see, feel and hear something that has no right to exist. Her condition gets worse, even though it should be other way around . Now something is starting to happen. The book is getting interesting, the events become more and more mysterious.
Soon, she will stumble upon people that will lead her to the usurer. Who is he, what he wants and how she is supposed to take him down? It will be difficult, considering that Biała doesn't want to believe what she sees. The question is whether it is right. Is the real evil walking the streets or is she going insane?
Possession, phantoms, holy inquisition, exorcisms. This is what awaits you in Bartosiewicz's novel and, in my opinion, the book deserves attention. Despite my hard start, I got carried away with it and I don't regret any moment.
