🇬🇧National Remembrance Day for Poles🇵🇱 saving Jews🕎 is celebrated on the anniversary of the murder of the 9-member Ulma family in Markowa in Podkarpacie📆🏴.
Since the summer of 1942, Wiktoria and Józef Ulm🧑🏻🤝🧑🏽 had been hiding 8 Jews🧑🏻🤝🧑🏽. In 1944, as a result of a denunciation by a policeman, Włodzimierz Leś, who was later sentenced to death and shot💀 by the Polish underground🇵🇱, the Germans killed the Ulm family, their seven children and all Jews✡️ who had been hiding. The heroic family was honored with the title of righteous among the nations of the world🕯️.
Poland was the only country in which the death penalty was enforced (and was carried out) for hiding Jews. Despite this, help for Jews was greater than in countries where there were no such sanctions. On the other hand, collaborators who denounced Jews were liquidated by the structures of the Polish underground state.

jest obchodzony w rocznicę zamordowania 9-osobowej rodziny Ulmów w Markowej na Podkarpaciu📆🏴.
Wiktoria i Józef Ulmowie🧑🏻🤝🧑🏽 od lata 1942 r. ukrywali 8 Żydów. W 1944 r. w wyniku donosu granatowego policjanta Włodzimierza Lesia, który został za to później skazany na śmierć💀 i rozstrzelany przez polskie podziemie🇵🇱, Niemcy zabili państwa Ulmów, ich siedmioro dzieci oraz wszystkich ukrywanych Żydów✡️. Bohaterska rodzina została uhonorowana tytułem sprawiedliwych wśród narodów świata🕯️.
Polska była jedynym krajem w którym za ukrywanie Żydów groziła (i była wykonywana) kara śmierci. Pomimo to pomoc dla Żydów była większa niż w krajach, w których takich sankcji nie było. Kolaboranci wydający Żydów byli zaś likwidowani przez struktury polskiego państwa podziemnego.
