Cults are a Success Story
There is a certain appeal that draws humans into cults. One replaces individual thinking and personal responsibility for strict rules that govern all aspects of life. And by following these rules you may count yourself to the chosen ones, opposed to the doomed and ignorant masses.
That deal is very appealing. And PC culture has some clear analogies. There are many rules that you need to follow, dictating your behaviour, thoughts and communication. It is a full time job to stay up to date and find out the latest words branded offensive. And there is no forgiveness; one wrong word and you are a nazi.
PC is about feeling better, not being better
PC culture is not really about changing the world. It gives rules for your life, but these rules only affect appearance not substance. PC people can still be as consumerist as they want, they only need to talk different about it.
PC culture in reality is about the PC people themselves and not much more. It offers a justification to feel superior, to think there is a simple solution for all our problems and you are already doing it and it did not even cost you anything. It is just a cheap trick to feel good about yourself without actually commuting yourself to real progress. A trick that however comes at a huge cost as it destroys free communication, creates barriers between people, demonises others and incites violence and slows actual progression.
