I was asked a couple of days ago why indigenous and northern affairs Canada was hanging First Nations Band Members out to dry.
First Nations Reserves across Canada live in a situation where the members live at the mercy of the Band Offices of the member can't afford to take them to Court.
Under the rule of law, the Government of Canada and by extension INAC are to inforce Canadian Laws on reserves; but to date they avoid doing it.
Why? It comes down to who they have to deal with... think along the lines of Governments interfering with foreign nations... or Canada selling weapons and tanks to Saudi Arabia to keep the population under control so Canada can benifit from dealing with the Government.
It's the same thing in Canada on Reserves... allow Band Offices to control the native populations under their control so the Governmemt can exploit it.

And yes. There are reporters hanging out on the Reserve asking questions... and following the trail of information into INAC.
