A lot of time and attention is wasted on faux outrage at something tweeted or stated or written that has no real-world impact other than fostering the debate (and the expressions of virtue signaling) that follows. The often overblown response to people merely exercising their role in the laboratory of ideas tends to undermine our ability to express proper outrage when confronted with truly outrageous conduct. Which brings me to the plight of Asia Bibi, who is being hunted in Pakistan for being a Christian and blaspheming Islam (she was acquitted by the Pakistani court). The mob trying to track her (and her family) down intends to publicly murder her (them) for something she said that apparently caused offense. That is outrageous. Why a post-Enlightenment country has not stepped in yet to offer her and her family asylum and safe transportation out of that backward hell-hole is very troubling.
