Logically speaking, a political website like Daily Kos should peak in its ratings in the days leading up to an election, or perhaps on the day of the election. However, Kos has seen nearly the exact opposite of that happen over the last few months. Not only have their ratings not gone up significantly as one would expect, but they have actually CRASHED. Just before the election Daily Kos fell out of the top 1,000 sites in the United States according to Alexa rankings.
This is shocking and calls into question the relevancy of the site in modern political discourse. Not only is it so biased that only Democrats are welcome on it, but it even infamously purged many Progressives who criticize the Democratic party. So basically very little debate is really allowed, and even if people don't get banned the fear of a ban causes a chilling effect on discourse. The site will never be useful for convincing people if it only caters to hard-core partisans, and it it can't convince anybody to become a Democrat what's the point?
Does anyone know why this might be?
