In 2015 we all calling for a change of government because we felt like the political party ruling is then was not up to the tasks, we came all out to vote out the current government then which I think was one of nigerians greatest achievement. Since our independent the people democratic party(PDP)as been in power for over 14years but all changed in 2015 when all progressive congress party(APC)won the general elections.
We nigerians felt like we already have enough of the same party ruling us over and over again and by voting them out we thought it was going to get better for good but it wasn't that. We so sure the party we voted in was going to perform better due to the past history of their aspirant (Gen. Muhammad Buhari) although all we wanted at time was change of government.
Three years down the line now, another election coming up next year and the change we all voted for I haven't seen it.
I feel most of our leaders are self centred and they don't even care to know what happening to the people who voted them, party doesn't differ either the people democratic party(PDP) or all progressive congress(APC) they are all the same thief with different strategies. I don't belong to any party and I don't care to know what their ambition may looks like, three years down the line nothing to show for it that simply means they have failed in flying colours.
I remember when the all progressive congress(APC) was doing their campaign they made few promises to we nigerians and I will like to name few of them.
Our president categorically said all this:
- I will stop importation of refined products.
- Three million job per year.
- I will revive all our refinery in my first one year in office and build more to produce more for our domestic consumption.
- One free meal daily, for public primary school pupils.
- I will increase minimum wage and place every graduate on salary for extra 1 year after their youth service.
- I will reduce fuel price to 45naira per litre.
- I will pay 23 million nigeria #5,000 monthly.
- Stabilizing the naira.
- Pledges free education to all nigerians.
- Pledges to wipe out corruption in the first year "says if nigeria doesn't kill corruption, corruption will kill nigeria"
Not to mention all progressive congress(APC) manifesto.
Few months after all we heard was the country was in economic recession. The national bureau of statics(NBS) confirmed that nigeria is in its worst economic recession in 29 years and I wonder how we get there.
Here are the few reasons they gave for it:
- The activities of militant and pipeline vandals.
- The existence of wasteful and abuse prone subsides.
- Economic policies of the present administration.
- The delay and controversies of the 2016 budget.
- Nigeria over dependence on foreign products
- Inability of the previous administration(led by goodluck jonathan) to save.
I won't dispute the fact that this current government kept his promises against fighting corruption by announcing the recovery of #3.4 trillion in one year but what is the extent of it all when they actually went ahead to borrow over $486 million from world bank.
When I was growing up I was told the youth are the leaders of tomorrow, but now am grown up and I can't find any youth ruling the country.
Nigeria politics is just like a circle where certain people choose how the country will be run without caring about the poor.
They said the youth are the leaders of tomorrow but how come a 70 years plus old man is ruling us and he even want to go for the second term, does the post looks like his ancestors throne?
I'm not a politician nor am I political, but it pains me seeing how things are been run here in nigeria. don't have words to say again but am only hoping for a better nigeria. I remain my humble self
