Dear Mr. Trump,
Your presidency has inspired a wave of political enthusiasm not seen in America for many decades. Not only in your speeches, but through your actions - you have drawn out your vision of a new American future in which the country distances itself from the diplomacy, equality, and freedom that has defined it for the last 241 years. Your disregard for political, social, economic, and ethical norms has thrilled, amazed, and in some cases disgusted voters across the entire political spectrum, and if your administration accomplishes absolutely nothing else from this point forward, you will at least be remembered for that.
Hundreds of thousands of people, both young and old, have engaged in the political process for the first time ever, and a strong argument can be made attributing it to the things you have said and done over the last year. African-Americans, Native-Americans, Hispanic-Latinos, Asian-Americans, Muslims, Christians, Nazis, Neo-Fascists, and pretty much every other minority group and sub group of citizens, who have previously felt so alienated from the politics as usual, have since been invigorated and decided to re-engage in the political process.
Today you stand at the head of a movement that believes so deeply in the vision you have laid out, they are willing to forego the most basic logic and reason to stand with you in the pursuit to “Make America Great Again”. Your followers separate themselves almost completely from the reality they used to reside in, and their blind faith culminates in ways no one ever dreamed possible. To the millions of people you claim have attended your rallies, the one fact that your campaign was financed through donations from mega corporations and uber wealthy citizens – should stand as testament to this powerful new movement’s passion and energy, as well as the utter senselessness and complete lack of understanding of the voting populous.
You should however not forget about the enthusiastic corps of paid political operatives, Republican Party organizers, and foreign government representatives who stood fast to ensure voters would turn out to support you on election day - finally bringing to a close the Obama era of progressivism that as you have stated many times in the past, could not have been brought to an end a day too soon. This is the same political infrastructure that will be necessary, perhaps even instrumental for success, in your continued effort to undo everything your predecessor had worked so tirelessly – and so naively to achieve over the last eight years.
Having done their part to place you into the white house, the continued support of this movement will in most cases prevent, or in the worst circumstances, be able to counteract those seeking any real change within American politics. With the steadfast leadership from all who you are beholden to, the established power structure within both congressional bodies, and the organized forces of money and finance, the dead weight that is your presidency will no doubt carry on the corporate greed and military adventurism America is now singularly known for throughout the world.
Since your historic victory in November of last year, you have displayed complete and total loyalty to the commitments expressed by you and most of the others who supported your campaign. There have been no signals or what could be considered troubling signs, that you are attempting to move away from your core beliefs, or even moving slightly toward a more centrist space that would be much more politically safe and secure. I recognize that the pressures brought to bear on the person holding the highest office in the land can no doubt become intense, and I understand that prior to your presidency, compromise was necessary for any democracy to function properly. Neither of these inherent “hurdles” appear to be in any way a hindrance, specifically as it relates to your agenda, and as it goes so far, potentially your presidency overall.
Vigorous backing from your core supporters will certainly be instrumental in continuing your effort to maintain the government status quo. In order to continue the preventative measures you have implemented and fought so hard to guarantee for your donors, there are several key positions you have embraced that I believe are essential to sustaining this unprecedented movement you now lead. No matter what - you must always reassure these select few individuals and corporations, that it is no longer possible for any challenge to their complete control to ever take place in the future. Retreating in any way from the bold and in most cases unpopular stands that have been the signature issues of your administration, will likely only serve to anger and dismay many of your most loyal supporters.
Here are the key positions you have so vocally embraced, and I believe continuing to support or even in many cases expanding them, will be the bare minimum requirements essential to sustaining the movement’s continued success. After all if recent history is any indication, there is absolutely no limit to how far down the proverbial rabbit hole the American voter is willing to go.
- Environmental regulation should continue to be dismantled, and your predecessor’s policy of routing billions of dollars to alternative energy sources and green jobs should be shifted back to subsidies and corporate tax credits for established energy companies. Reducing fuel consumption and emissions standards will also serve to assure America will consume exponentially more fossil fuels, thus returning the ever increasing billions in profits back to the energy sector donors who support you.
- More must be done to silence the voices of ordinary people attempting to influence and reform the political process. Corporate lobbyists and special interest money should be given preferential treatment in every regard, and new laws should be implemented to guarantee none of the restrictions placed on them in the past, will any longer apply.
- Reform of the drug laws is crucial to support the burgeoning corporate prison industry that has been so gracious in their donations. Minimum mandatory sentencing should be expanded to include crimes not currently covered under the guidelines. Hundreds of thousands of defendants convicted of criminal drug charges, who currently avoid incarceration through various probation and parole programs, should be re-evaluated and incarcerated pending the outcome of their reviews, and the standards used to determine suitability for release from prison should be written by the prison itself – eliminating the financial burden on the courts.
- Every attempt should be made to reverse and/or negate laws directed at the civil liberties for women, children, and minority groups that have flourished since the 1960’s. Improving the conditions in urban communities, disparities in education, access to and/or the right to abortion, general reproductive health services, racial and ethnic equality, and child labor standards should no longer be considered a priority or even recognized as an issue to be resolved by the federal government. Groups within the government that endorse and promote these as issues of importance should be disbanded, and refusal to do so should be considered acting against the interests of the United States.
- Your administrations continuation of the current economic situation in America has been precisely what was expected of you. Reducing the disparity between the wealthy and the poor has never been, and never should be a priority for you. I’m fairly certain you would never attempt to change the very thing that has provided you with so much, but even in the event you are somehow incentivized for more than your current benefactors offer, you should continue to expend every effort to systematically dismantle:
- The entire social welfare system including the financial safety net for the elderly and children with disabilities and return that money to the people and corporations who are so much more deserving of its benefit.
- Reduce or completely eliminate any federal government investment in restoring the countries crumbling infrastructure. Any funds currently budgeted for roads, bridges, water supply lines, and the electric grid should be immediately turned over only to the private for profit institutions that offer financial support to your presidency.
- Create new laws that will make it utterly impossible to organize labor unions, and continue your efforts to dismantle meaningful government enforcement of labor laws that are crippling corporate ability to increase profits through exploitation of workers. Eliminating the federal government regulation of industry has been instrumental to increasing profits and decreasing liability, however more certainly can and should be done.
Standing firm on the principals you have so compellingly articulated will assure continued success in bringing more wealth and power to the select few who you deem worthy, and the before mentioned list of actions will assure continued support and unwavering belief in you from these individuals and corporations. Thank you for everything you have done Mr. President, you’ve encouraged the entire world to believe no matter how utterly crazy something appears, we can now believe anything is possible…
