Continuing with the countdown of the aspirants for the number seat in Nigeria. In my previous post, I talked about the young bloods who are running and hoping to make history.
In this part, we shall be looking at the Old Cabal.
Atiku Abubarkar. This ex custom's officer, served as the second elected vice-president of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007, on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), with President Olusegun Obasanjo. A Nigerian politician, businessman and philanthropist, and he is one candidate with enormous wealth.
His campaign for the presidency has been since he left office as a vice president and he is hell bent on becoming president. He is one of the old ones.Mohammed Buhari. He is the seating president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. His campaign for change and fight against corruption was what endeared him to the people. Since he assumed office, his constant sickness and frequent trips overseas always makes the headlines. His style of leadership is in question and many are waiting to see a new dawn. He is one of the old ones.
Sule Lamido. This former governor of Jigawa State and Peoples Democratic Party presidential aspirant, kicked off his electioneering campaign by declaring at a rally that he was confident of becoming Nigeria's president after the 2019 general elections. He is one of the old ones.
Ayodele Fayose. The ever controversial Fayose is the Governor of Ekiti State and he is an outspoken individual who is known to openly attack the leadership of President Buhari. He is always on the news for one case or the other. The most recent is the freezing of his accounts by the federal government on allegations of corruption. He too wants to get into Aso Rock and make a difference. He is one of the old ones.
These four have so many supporters and they have been making some very loud noises on their plan to kick Buhari out of Aso Rock in 2019. The news media has so many stories of Ayo Fayose and the others openly attacking the president and his cabinet for their lack of love for the Nigerian nation and also their high level of corruption.
With Buhari being the incumbent, many fear there will not be a displacement and there is also the issue of zoning. (We funny for this country sha)
I blame this very administration of Buhari for introducing corruption in a more subtle way than we have known it before. Buhari came preaching war against corruption but his workings and that of members of his cabinet just shows outright corruption.
Should we talk about the war in our various arms of government? What about the constant misleading of the people making them take up sides with the foreigners to condemn the nation? What about the constant bombings and killings in the North Eastern parts of Nigeria?
Right now, there is no job, no industrialization, no growth in the development of the economy and the various policies being implemented just keeps making things difficult. From the CBN to the States and Local Governments, the wave of corruption just keeps taking an advanced pathway.
There is the case of the Chibok girls adopted by the dreaded Boko Haram terrorist group at the beginning of the Buhari presidency and till now, our girls are still missing. Last week, the CBN announced some very funny law that will not allow you and I transfer more than N100,000.00 through our mobile phones daily. Today, i am just waiting to hear the next most disturbing news that will come from our leaders. - End of rant.
We need to have a country we can be proud to leave for our children. We are the ones who will determine what happens after now and we hope to get into the best sections of our lives and national development.
I am thankful for Cryptocurrency and also mostly for Steemit. It has helped me and thousand others find a workable path in life. I look forward to that day when, we can start using the Blockchain to conduct elections in this country.
Who will you be casting your vote for???
