The liberal and libertarian position that I take is generally that nobody has a positive obligation toward you or me. If I'm drowning, I'm not entitled to have to dive in and save me. You have no obligation to hug me if I feel like I need a hug. That's all clear when it comes to adults.
Children complicate things.
The trade-off that was made in the evolutionarily process for our relatively large brains is that we're about as vulnerable as they come as we exit the birth canal. Most mammalian offspring can walk and instinctually graze without guidance. If we don't have an older human being around when we're born, we're dead.
This post isn't entirely wrong until it literally says that it doesn't matter if it's a baby or a five year-old. It's at this point that this becomes gross, evil, and illustrative of the hypocrisy and moral vacuousness of the illiberal Left.
Since I'm a libertarian and I generally don't believe in positive obligations, I'm the guy who usually gets attacked for being selfish, uncaring, and the guy that will let a person die to save a few cents on my taxes.
The illiberal Left is all about positive obligations. They believe that people have collective obligations to other people. Their entire belief system is built around the rhetoric of helping the helpless - by force if necessary. All of their righteous indignation comes from a place of being a voice for the voiceless.
Yet, here, taking this post to its logical conclusion, having a baby and leaving it in the back yard to feed the crows is perfectly fine because the baby doesn't get to use your body.
This is the callousness that I'm supposed to be accused of and I find it disgusting.
The baby isn't at least entitled to have you use your body for him or her to simply drop him or her off at a church or a fire station or whatever so the baby won't die? That's too much of a fucking problem for you? By this logic, even if Casey Anthony did do what she was accused of, she still did nothing wrong.
This isn't an anti-abortion post on my part for any thinking person. This original poster took it into post birth to toddler to functioning adult levels and said that nobody has to take physical action to keep any of those people alive.
It's as if the illiberal Left is sucking itself into a black hole of its own creation.
