Khashoggi was murdered under dubious circumstances in the saudi arabian consulate in Istanbul. The exact details are not known but what we hear is rather bizarre. The body supposedly chopped up and dissolved in acid. All information we have is from the Turkish secret service that apparently has infiltrated the consulate.
It is claimed that US intelligence did know about these plans, but did not act to prevent them

Whatever the truth, which we may never know, there are a few details often left out by the media. Khashoggi is portrayed as a regime critic journalist. While that is almost true, it purposely leaves out relevant information. We are supposed to believe that he was a kind of freedom fighter and champion for democracy. But in reality he was supporting authoritarian rule and supporting religious tyranny. He just favoured a different authoritarian ruler than the current Saudi king source. Why are our media misleading us on purpose? Honestly I dont know but I do have some ideas.
And what is the glorious west doing after we have a non-disputed political murder? No sanctions, no rethinking of political ties, Nothing!
Then we have the Skripal case. An alleged attempted murder by Russia. There are many open ends and strange coincidences. The British government has released multiple contradictory stories and Russia has not admitted any involvement. The investigation simply ignored international standards that were demanded by Russia. Of course our media not reporting on these but only pointing fingers at Russia.
Khashoggi vs Skripal
When we compare the two, we have one political motivated murder where the accused party does not even claim to be innocent. On the other hand we have an unsolved attempted murder where no side has been able to provide a logical story.
We should expect that common sense politics will show a much stronger reaction to the Khashoggi murder then the Skripal case. But what happened is the opposite. Russia was blamed, isolated and sanctions were put into place. But in the case of Saudi-Arabia nothing at all happened apart from a few critical words without consequences.
Maybe this is because Saudi Arabia is a great free country while Russia is an evil dictatorship. Only that Saudi-Arabia is one of the worst dictatorship that currently exists on the planet.
Everyone, no matter how indoctrinated in government propaganda, should realise that different standards are applied and what happens is just a political game. Where it is not really about people getting killed, but people just looking for reasons they can use to justify political action that was planned all along.
What could be these reasons? In the Skripal case it is letting relations with Russia deteriorate to justify bigger military spending, justify US military bases in Europe and create a more one-sided strategic balance (or rather imbalance). We have seen this with the US breaking the ABM treaty and pushing to station short and medium range nuclear missiles in Europe.
In the Kahshoggi case international relations to Saudi-Arabia are too important as a supplier for oil and a crucial partner in the middle east. The fact that it is a oppressive dictatorship does not matter one bit as long as the interests are aligned. The campaign to paint an overly positive picture of Khashoggi seems to be targeted to hurt Trump rather than change foreign politics.
In the end this is just a game; a show played to influence our opinions. But the only thing that is really to be learnt is to not trust the manipulators. Especially when the show us this clearly that they have no principles and are just interested to push their own agenda.
