Political correctness is more so a code of conduct when speaking to others. It is a code in which one must bleach out what they truly think and relay only a part of the message. Substituting words, giving examples and too often avoiding the cold hard ruthless truth.
Political correctness is defective, namely because it doesn’t communicate the thoughts/ideas/messages that are intended, it avoids them and in a way sweeps issues under the mat/rug.
Political correctness doesn’t change the people we are, it doesn’t change our thoughts.
Just because we are thinking one thing and then say another so as to avoid using the word that we are thinking does not make us better people. It does not help the message get across, it does not express the true nature of the issues being discussed.
What we need to do is to use the words that we are thinking, the words that truly and thoroughly express the essence and nature of the message that we are trying to get across to our audiences.
Naturally, one must excuse oneself if using words that could be offensive, not for the fact that one is using those words, but for the truthful and sincere nature by which it is made known that there is no intention to offend anyone. Only this way can the stereotypes of “racists, sexists and God only knows what all “a to z phobes” out there be eliminated and all terms be used in a proactive and positive manner. Likewise those using them inappropriately can be easily put in their rightful place and category.
Basically there is no person on this earth that has no “bias”. Every single person on this earth has had and has some sort of bias, whether it be family, friends or work colleagues. So there should be no reason to not express these biases in an open an sincere manner, so that everyone can appreciate your openness and honesty.
Political correctness = HIDING THE TRUTH. MASKING THE TRUTH.
There is room for politeness, there is room for people to openly announce a word or term that could be offensive and that it is being used to express a point for the right reasons. So avoiding terms that are “politically incorrect” today is not politically incorrect if one ensures that the message being relayed is for good and noble reasons/causes.
Showing respect is in fact telling the truth, saying it as it is and not avoiding the topics or terms that under “political correctness” should be hidden or wrapped up in gift wrapping paper.
Why avoid the truth, why avoid being up front, sincere and honest about everything?
Why avoid using the terms that truly express what one has to say, terms that wholeheartedly relay the message?
I dare say that “political correctness” was invented by the politicians so that they may hide their true nature, so that they may pretend to be something that they in reality are not.
No other rational or logical reason comes to mind.
THINK ABOUT IT!
My conclusion is that this so called "political correctness" is a load of bullsh#t!
