Fortunately, it has been a pretty busy day here in Milwaukee. I haven't had a lot of time to look in on the Elections. I voted last week before leaving for Wisconsin, so I had done my civic duty. But once again, it seems that there is far too much Red in Tennessee for much to matter.
Those of us who are not fans of President Trump were encouraged when Taylor Swift came out and endorsed the Democratic candidates in Tennessee while there was still time for people to get registered to vote. There was a huge uptick in voter registrations in her audience demographic, young people between 18-29.
In the end though, in the two big races that mattered, the Republicans took what looks like easy victories. CNN called both of these races with only 40% of the total vote counted. It seems obscene that they can call things that early, but they have not typically been wrong, so chances are their calls are accurate.
I'm not really a political person, but the beliefs I have do lean Democratic. It bothers me to live in an area that seems so set in the past that we can't seem to find a way to crack through and support even moderate democrats.
As I type this, CNN is declaring the Democrats will take control of the House, which really just means more of the same. More bickering, more partisan politics and infighting, more blame game politics. I don't know if this is progress, or just more of the same.
At least we won't be seeing any more Political Commercials... at least for a couple of months until the 2020 campaigns start up.
Blech!
