So who are my least favorite Democratic candidates? Here's a list of the bottom three:
Kamala Harris
It utterly baffles me how simply by virtue of 1.) being a woman of color and 2.) parroting some superficially "woke" slogans, she's gotten the support of so many social progressives. She spent her entire career as a prosecutor known for taking a harsh stance against drug use, sex work, and illegal immigration; it would be hard to find a better representative of the prison-industrial complex if you tried. Yet because she did a 180 on legalizing weed (after that had already become a normalized position even among conservatives!), people are acting like she's some kind of civil libertarian crusader.
Joe Biden
It seems like his supporters mostly just like him because they associate him with the Obama years, and think he'll bring about a return to "normalcy." The problem is, "normal" wasn't actually that great for a lot of people in this country, that's how we ended up with Trump in the first place. Obama had a pretty bad track record on immigration, civil liberties, and foreign wars, and Biden is even more hawkish, even more draconian, and further to the right on both economic and social issues. He's the absolute last thing this country needs right now; a vote for him is a vote for the failed Bush-Obama consensus on civil and foreign policy.
Marianne Williamson
Okay, she might not actually be as bad as the first two in terms of things she's actually done (if only because she's a political neophyte who hasn't actually done anything). And she's not dangerous at all; there's zero chance of her actually winning, since she has absolutely no political support and very limited name recognition. I just find her incredibly frustrating. As a political observer, there's nothing that annoys me more than candidates that run on vague touchy-feely slogans rather than actual policy stances, and that sums up Williamson's whole campaign to a T. She even took it a step further by actively criticizing the other Democrats for having real plans and policy proposals, as if that's a drawback somehow! And after four years of Trump, the American people deserve better than another celebrity candidate with no coherent policies and no political experience whatsoever.
