A lot have been said by different people on the participation of youths in government, but till today it is so bad the we still continue sleeping and snoring, putting fire on the roof and slept of.
Yet we keep complaining and dreaming for change to occur in the comfort of our sitting room
Given a close look at the history of Nigeria one will see clearly how the youths of those days feature prominently in political participation and governance but in recent time reverse is the case and obviously the idea if the youths as the leaders of tomorrow has really reduced the thinking of many youths and turned them to a political minority.
With the recent happening in the country some will still say youths are not mature to rule while trying to wait for tomorrow that will come when they have gone to rest in peace so to say.
History has it that shew shagari became a federal legislator at age 30 and a minister at the age of 35 while Maitama SULE became oil minister at age 29 the list is numerous, then I asked myself what if these people has not seen it as a necessity to get involve or chose to take the responsibilities or what if the had waited for when they'll be mature am sorry for the hope of Nigerian youths if things goes on this way.
Obviously today, the only thing we are found of and which we have turned ourselves to is election consultants, social media battalions and or political thugs just because of our own selfish interest, on this, we need to have a rethink.
Is it a pity today that greed, selfish interests and over competition have conspired to weaken our ability to collaborate effectively as a united front that advance our well being.
In the recent time the most annoying, disgusting, disturbing and exasperating issue about us is the fight we fight ourselves on social media and all in the name of politics and superiority contest among ourselves only to establish who holds the best opinion.
All these are the reflections of the damage we do to ourselves as youths in the name of competition and survival and they are the complicated symptoms that characterized why we are failing or we have failed to organize ourselves in to a powerful group of change maker in order to take over.
Instead of putting ideas together in order to take over what we see is youths antagonizing a fellow youth on a post while supporting another youth who wish to take up a responsibility forgetting that participation in politics or electioneering process has gone beyond volting.
If truly we are ready the only effective youths participation in politics is to beginning to get involved. Yes we know that all youths can not go into politics but the little that will must be encouraged, supported, embraced and never to demonize in order to build a bridge between us and those hold fools.
I remembered the last time I shared an image of a friend who is running for a political seat , the numbers of insult passed on me what as a second to non and the only thing I did to deserve those insult was because I supported a fellow youth.
look critically to the 2019 presidential race I can see two men standing ATIKU AND BUHARI then something tells me that we are still running or operating a recycled system of government.
Hence we should zero our expectations of whatever form.
Being an advocate for youth in government or not too young to rule does not mean that I encourage just anyhow person in the name of youths in government, it is a truth that can not be hidden that youth constitute the lager percentage of those who commit different kinds of atrocities and i believe this is one of the reason why some are still of the opined that youths are not mature to rule but the truth is out if these youths we still have many that are upright and that can even be trusted.
At this point I'll need to state it clearly that the kinds of youths we need in government should be those that are responsible, diligent focus, determine trustworthy, reliable and hardworking.
Let's support ourselves
Let's advice ourselves
Let's encourage ourselves
Let embrace ourselves.
This is our time as Nigerian youths, if not NOW then WHEN, once an opportunity is lost it might be very difficult to regain it or might not even be regain again.
Let's have positive thinking about ourselves
Let's forget about our selfish interest and face reality. We need to be a source of inspiration to ourselves having it in mind that together we stand, divided we collapse
ATIKU THEN, ATIKU NOW
BUHARI THEN, BUHARI NOW, BUHARI TO COME
