Barack Obama is almost one year into his "retirement" and has stayed relatively quiet and out of the press similar to what George W. Bush did when he left office. Our Presidents make a salary of $400,000 per year and are enjoying a pension of $200,000 plus full benefits. Is that a fair deal?
President Trump is a unique example as he is a billionaire and is not keeping his salary. He donates it to a different cause every quarter. But President Obama did not come into office with deep pockets, and although he has a big book deal, along with his wife that can net them over $65 Million, I don't think that the current salary and pension amounts are enough.
I am a small government, fiscal conservative, but assuming that a President is either already rich or will become rich after their term is up, isn't right in my opinion. We consider the President of the United States the most powerful person in the world. The decisions they will make will not only affect us, but will have enormous affects that stretch the globe. CEO's of major companies make tens of millions. The Commisioner Roger Goodell of the NFL made $40 Million last year. The NBA Minimum Salary is $543,471 per year. But the President is only worth $400,000 per year?
Yes this picture of retired Presidents are doing fine financially. The Clintons sold everything they could as they were leaving the White House. But I have a hard time thinking that a wrestler in the WWE is more important than the POTUS. The millennials pound their fist demanding fair pay for fair work. Well, what is the President worth? If Taco Bell drive through window operators deserve $15/hr, how does that translate to the most powerful person in the world? I would love to hear your thoughts. Thank you for following me
