President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he plans to reinstate a ban on transgender individuals from serving "in any capacity" in the US armed forces.
The decision reversed a policy initially approved by the Defense Department under President Barack Obama, which was still under final review, that would allow transgender individuals to openly serve in the military. Defense Secretary James Mattis announced last month that he was delaying enactment of the plan to begin allowing transgender individuals to join the US military.
A 2016 Rand Corp. study commissioned by the Defense Department concluded that letting transgender people serve openly would have a "minimal impact" on readiness and health care costs, largely because there are so few in the military's 1.3 million-member force.
Frankly I think he should keep going and banned women from front line combat too. Women and men that pretend to be women should not be allowed in combat for the obvious reason of biology. Men are built for combat and women are built for having babies. Many studies have show men are better at preforming tasks under pressure than women and I'd say front line combat is the ultimate pressure one could ever experience. Men are also physically stronger than women and can carry more gear and work on heavy equipment better than women.
About this Rand Corp study that shows transgendered people will have minimal impact on the military its completely unreliable considering there's evidence this companies may have been involved in human trafficking. I think there was even a congressional investigation into this company.
I think Trump did the right thing by banning trans people. If there's known problems with gays and women in the military then letting trans people in is just going to complicate things even more.
