Portland is that great progressive city where the young come to retire, amirite? Not so fast... we've seen many nice old homes and trees ripped out so fast you can't even remember what was on that corner yesterday.
Case in point, this house in my neighborhood is slated for demolition very soon in spite of very vigorous protest. It was even on the historical register but quickly taken off and flipped to a developer who plans to demolish and build condos or similar. I'm not sure if the trees will survive either.
All this perfectly fine as far as our city government is concerned.
Photo with signs and demolition fence installed is from today, and photo of 'flash protest' about a month ago.
