His political agenda during his presidency focused on socialist ideals, with the nationalization of large scale industries like banking and copper mining, as well as the government administration of the health care and the educational system. Also an already started land reform was continued and intensified. The outcome of his politics were a democratisation of education with higher rates of enrollment in all school forms and a redistribution of wealth. In the end a military coup ended his presidency only 3 years after inception.
