Yesterday was one of the last sunny days according to the weather forecast for the next 2 weeks. The same forecast that can hardly be trusted. So my other Hive-buddy and I decided to get high. Together with Vin Diesel we went in V-formation up in the sky. The 3 Vin's went up on Diesel Power. And got our heads in the clouds. We found our peace on the peak.
Kind of a vague intro right? Well, to be clear...the dynamic duo Vin and Vin took my green van 'Vin Diesel' for a ride. We expected a busy road up to the mountain 'Serra da Estrela' on a sunny Saturday, but it was empty. Last year this mountain was packed in the weekend and that time is was all cloudy without any visibility at all. Vin Diesel has a lot more power these days, I hope the other Vincent was not nervous that we would try to break his fingers again, he might have some trauma after our last ride together 😂 Here you can find the story of that time
We drove up in a cloud. When we arrived at the top, it cleared up. Even on top is was quiet. Although the little restaurant had a huge speaker outside with loud pumping bad techno tunes in front of the entrance. And don't expect high quality food on top of the highest mountain in Portugal...the coffee is just as cold as the mountaintop itself and the food tastes just as bad as the quality of the buildings on top. Vincent (which one doesn't matter with 3 Vinnies) told me to get some cheese at the little store on top. I don't know if the smell inside was from the cheese or from an old smelly wet slipper (they sell a lot of ugly slippers here), but it didn't make me that hungry.
We walked and climbed around a bit and found a nice rock to have an overview over the lakes. After eating the smelly spicy cheese (which wasn't too bad) and dry bread (it tasted more like rye bread, we realized how quiet is was up here. So there is a place in Portugal were you won't get annoyed by barking dogs or hyperactive kids?? So there is PARADISE in Portugal...I knew it 😄
We enjoyed the moment with a nice tasty PRAXIS-beer and rolled down the mountain with Vin Diesel. Arriving in Barril de Alva for a little village party. What is it with my search for Gluhwein?? Everytime I am looking forward to it, they don't have it. Getting some Bifana from a guy that controls a piece of pork abobve the BBQ on a pipe with a steering wheel. It was an entertaining evening. After all the loudness, sangria and red wines I could sleep pretty relaxed in my van. Which was parked just around the corner of the village.
