We all have our differences, our traits, our unique character and this is what makes us an individual. I don't blame anyone for this because it's natural. But at times we can choose to make changes to the kind of person we are. We can choose to try something new and that's why we are humans.
Life as a man is permanent, I can't choose to change my gender, but there is no way I won't have one in my life. Ladies are to be respected and loved by all means. Many times I prefer traveling on my own. Like not packing my stuff with my sister’s or she rather pack her stuff differently.
This is because ladies are just that way, they are bound to pack and pack, every single thing without missing out on any, there is a different packing section for their cosmetics, another section for their wears, and another section for their makeup, even if allowed they can also pack food items and cutlery alongside, all is just to have their privacy.
I remember a time in my fourth year in the institution when we had to spend weeks in the villages for one of our practical courses, we were divided into groups and then asked to cater for our expenses to the villages. We boarded a bus and when everyone was to find spaces for their luggage, I had no issue because I went with just a few clothes in my bag pack.
But some ladies made me laugh so hard. They came with almost all they had in their rooms, plates, cups, a bed, buckets, and traveling boxes 😂. The bus got filled and we didn't even have space to sit comfortably again.
My traveling ethics
Many times when I have to travel, I love going light. I don't like the fact that I have to pack and pack all on me just because I am about to travel. I see it as some kind of inconvenience. If I need something then I can just go get them when I arrive where I am going.
I remember when I had to resume school in my first year. I just went with one Ghana Must Go bag with my clothes, and shoes in it. Then I have my backpack with my phone’s accessories, cards, and a few other items I might need. Other things I needed, I had to buy them when I got to school. To me, since I am buying them before going then I still have to pack them again to where I am going. I would prefer to buy them where I am going to and settle.
The same thing happened when I had to go for my service year, while I was in the camp everyone was like how would you survive on this? I went with a small traveling box, and my bag too. There was my bonk mate that came with a big bag. I wondered what he had to pack inside there. Yet it became like a burden to him at some point.
I did the same thing when I was in service for the whole year. I went with my box and my bag alone, and when I returned I also came back home with the same thing.
I love it when I travel light. There was a time when I had to travel a long distance. It was in the ticket that once your luggage weighed above 10 kg then you had to pay additional money to your transport fare. I wasn't even bothered. I went to weigh my luggage and it was not even halfway of the requirements. So I just had it on my lap.
Some of the requirements I love to take alongside when I travel
Clothes: This is the first important thing I need to pack whenever I am traveling. I don't need much of them but they are important since I can have them washed and worn. There is no big deal in that. But at least I should have one that can sustain me for four days without washing.
Accessories are another important thing I need to pack whenever I am traveling. My gadgets are of utmost importance. Especially now that I have my phone as my workplace, to get in touch even while traveling. I need them.
Comb: this might sound odd. 😂. But I am the type that needs my comb more than I need body cream. I will have it in my pocket. Since I keep full hair, whenever I misplace or lose my comb I feel uncomfortable because my hair would look so unkempt. That's why it's more of a priority too.
Shoes and slippers: I have to pack these if need be I would have to change my clothes and wear something cool to match. But if not, then I think the one I have on me is okay for me.
That's my top priority whenever I want to travel. Other stuff like body creams, body spray, and bathing soap, are just a necessity and I can get them anywhere I am going to. So this is typical of me traveling around the world with my small traveling box sliding behind me.
