BBC reports Britain experiencing temperature that’s beyond their ever recorded high temperature, while Portugal and Spain suffer even hotter weather. Sweden regrets to announce to the world that its tallest point which is the Mount Kebnekaise cease to be its tallest point as a glacier on the Mount which was at 6,925 feet above the sea level is said to be melting thus reducing the overall height of the Mountain.
Just yesterday I was watching AlJazeera bringing report of the heatwave particularly from Spain when Bjorn Lomborg, director of the Copenhagen Consensus Centre, was briefly brought on the screen to be questioned as regard his view on the happenings being broadcasted to the viewers. A highly controversial figure, indeed.
He had convincing tips, though, about how the heatwaves could be a good thing anyway owing to the fact that we would have fewer and less harsher winter as a result. And when confronted with the deaths occurring due to it, he questions if it is as much as that occurring in winters.
He had his points though, which are aplenty, and these got my mind working in an almost reverse motion. I am a supporter of the existence of global warming and I am always keen to point out its footprints and how it could be quite adverse to our condition. Yesterday, at that AlJazeera’s session with Bjorn Lomborg, was the first time I will be exposed to the opinions of those who though admits that climate change is real but do also think that it could be a good thing after all. So you can guess how stupefied I was listening to the man as he kept his argument going in a logical and rational frame.
But, could climate change be a good thing afterall?
No doubt, global warming could have been responsible for the flourishing of the human race after the ice age, which was brought to an end about 12,000 years ago.
And according to an article from The Spectator, it is argues that Global warming could be good for the world because the planet is going to enjoy
The argument goes on and on. But my major cause of skeptism amongst these talks remain that why does the mainstream media keep this argument out of the ears of the people? Why?
